Summer in January: Sans-gria Recipe

As we navigate the depths of winter this January, the days can feel long, and the warmth of summer seems like a distant memory. The desire for sunny days, outdoor gatherings, and refreshing beverages is stronger than ever. But fear not, as we have the perfect solution to lift your spirits and infuse your January with the essence of summer...

As the new year unfolds, resolutions are made, and promises to embrace healthier lifestyles are eagerly set. One popular choice among many is Dry January – a month-long commitment to abstain from alcohol.

This detox period not only allows for a reset after the festive season but also opens the door to newfound energy and well-being. To elevate the detox experience and infuse a bit of summer spirit into the process, we bring you a special non-alcoholic Sangria punch recipe that perfectly complements the journey of Dry January.

The combination of citrus fruits and berry flavours in this Sans-gria creates a symphony of tastes that not only satisfies the palate but also provides a burst of vitamins and antioxidants. The addition of lemon-lime soda adds effervescence, making it a sparkling and uplifting alternative to traditional sangrias.

You can come try our delicious Sans-gria at the Pacific Arts Market Summer in January Event on January 26th and 27th 2024!

Cheers to brightening up winter with a taste of summer!

 Ingredients

1 Serving| Drink Creation: 3 minutes

  • 1/4 cup cold cranberry juice

  • 1/4 cup cold orange juice

  • 1/4 cup cold blueberry juice

  • 1/4 cup cold peach juice

  • 1/2 Tbsp. fresh lime juice

  • 1/3 cup cold lemon-lime soda

  • Orange slices

  • Apple Slices

  • Raspberries & fresh mint leaves (garnish)

METHOD

  1. In a large glass, combine the cold cranberry juice, cold orange juice, cold blueberry juice, cold peach juice and lime juice.

  2. Stir the mixture until the juice mix is completely combined, ensuring a harmonious blend of flavours.

  3. Add ice to the mixture.

  4. Top with cold lemon-lime soda. The effervescence adds a delightful sparkle to the sangria.

  5. Add the sliced oranges and limes to infuse the drink with the citrusy goodness that screams summer. These colourful slices not only enhance the flavour but also make for a visually appealing presentation.

  6. Garnish the sangria with raspberries and fresh mint leaves. These final touches add a burst of sweetness and a hint of herbal freshness.

Notes & Alternative Options:

  • You can make this in a large batch for a party or as a pick-me-up just for yourself! Just multiply the ingredients by the number of servings you would like to make in a large pitcher or beverage dispenser!

  • Make it in advance and keep it fresh by simply popping the mixture in the fridge after Step 2 until you're ready to serve. This also allows the flavours to meld and intensify, creating a more refreshing and vibrant sangria. Top with lemon-lime soda when you're ready to serve and follow the remaining steps!

  • Not doing Dry January? Just add a shot of your favourite spirit for a refreshing and delicious boozy beverage!
