Escape to summer bliss with a tantalizing twist on the classic Moscow Mule.
Introducing the 'Pomegranate Zest Mule,' a refreshing elixir that combines the timeless charm of a Moscow Mule with the vibrant burst of pomegranate.
Before we dive into our recipe we have to look into the extremely interesting history of the origins of the Moscow Mule!
The Moscow Mule's story begins in the early 1940s when three individuals found themselves at the famous Cock 'n' Bull pub in Los Angeles.

Jack Morgan, the owner of the Cock 'n' Bull, had a surplus of ginger beer that he was struggling to sell. John Martin, the president of a spirits and beverage distributor, was having difficulty popularizing his new brand of Russian vodka called Smirnoff. And finally, there was Sophie Berezinski an immigrant who had recently acquired a copper mug manufacturing company in Russia and was struggling to sell her copper mugs in America.
These three came together and decided to collaborate on a drink that would incorporate all of their products. They combined Morgan's ginger beer, Martin's vodka, and a squeeze of fresh lime juice. The concoction was served in one of Berezinski's distinctive copper mugs, which provided a unique and memorable presentation for the cocktail.
To promote their creation, the trio embarked on an ingenious marketing campaign. They would travel from bar to bar, demonstrating the Moscow Mule and leaving behind a pair of copper mugs—one for the bartender and one to be displayed prominently on the bar.
Word of the Moscow Mule spread like wildfire, capturing the attention of cocktail enthusiasts across the country. The copper mugs became synonymous with the drink, and the Moscow Mule became a symbol of sophistication and style. While this story has many different versions, it remains true that the beverage was a product of a sales strategy created by 3 people desperate to sell their products!
Today, the Moscow Mule remains a timeless classic, appreciated for its refreshing and zesty flavour profile and its iconic copper mug presentation.
