Cocktail Ingredients

1 Serving | Ingredients Prep: 30 minutes | Drink Creation: 1 minute

  • 2oz Vodka

  • 1/2 oz Orange Liqueur

  • 3/4 oz Hibiscus Syrup (recipe below)

  • 1oz Lime Juice

  • Orange Peel (for garnish)

HIBISCUS TEA SYRUP INGREDIENTS

  • Dried Hibiscus Flower or Hibiscus Tea Bags

  • White Sugar

Equipment Needed

  • Cocktail Shaker

  • Paring Knife or Rind Peeler/Twister

  • Martini Glass

PREPARATION

1. Make the Hibiscus Syrup

  • Add 1/4 cup of tea leaves (or equivalent tea bags) to 1 cup of boiling water.

  • Cover and let steep for up to 10 minutes. You should end up with a deep, rich magenta colour and be able smell the strong floral aroma when it is done.

  • Strain the liquid out from the tea leaves.

  • Mix 1 cup of HOT Hibiscus Tea with 1 cup of White Sugar - Stir vigorously to avoid any clumps or crystallization in the syrup.

  • Place the syrup in the fridge to cool for at least 30 minutes.

2. While the syrup is cooling, put your martini glasses in the freezer to chill - Cool for at least 15 minutes, until they appear frosted*

*This step is optional but encouraged as it provides visual effect and ensures that drinks remain crisp

and cool while they're sipped.

METHOD

  1. Add a few ice cubes, vodka, orange liqueur, chilled hibiscus syrup, and lime juice in a cocktail shaker. Shake for up to a minute.

  2. Remove the Martini glass from the freezer and strain the shaker mix into the frosted glass.

  3. Make a twist of orange peel.

  4. Garnish and Enjoy!

Notes & Alternative Options:

  • Store this syrup in your fridge for up to a month and use it for more Martinis or as a boost to your morning latte for an even more delicious start to your day!
